Environmental Stewardship Policy
Applied Research Solutions, Inc. (ARS) recognizes the importance of preserving and protecting the global environment. Current worldwide concerns regarding trends in climate change have prompted the company to recognize and act upon its environmental impacts as they relate to everyday business activities, and the communities where it operates. It is ARS’ priority to determine how the organization and its employees impact both the workplace environment and consequently the greater global environment.
With an emphasis on stewardship, ARS takes initiative to identify, qualify, quantify, analyze, respond, control, and manage aspects of its business activities that could potentially have environmental impacts. Through these efforts, ARS seeks to tangibly reduce and mitigate the company’s net effect on the environment via responsiveness to impacts and long-term strategic environmental planning.
GHG Protocol for Corporate Accounting and Reporting
Consistent with the ARS policy for environmental stewardship, Applied Research Solutions subscribes to and complies with the US EPA guidelines for use of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol for Corporate Accounting and Reporting, based on its Simplified Guide to Greenhouse Gas Management for Organizations. The company publishes an annual public disclosure regarding its Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions and acts to responsibly reduce emissions.
ARS has evaluated its emissions sources and determined the operational boundaries for its inventory of GHG Emissions. Considering the organizational context and the nature of its work products, the ARS Corporate Headquarters, in Beavercreek, Ohio, qualifies as a “low emitter organization”. To derive representative emissions estimates, ARS employs the US Environmental Protection Agency / Center for Corporate Climate Leadership’s Simplified GHG Emissions Calculator to quantify its Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions.
